Sometimes it so happens that we are all set to go on a vacation and we have set a budget for us but those flight tickets are above our budgets thus taking all our excitement down the drain. Some say booking the best flight deal is an art, some say there is a scientific way to do it while others say that its pure luck. Maybe it's a mix of all those and a little bit of knowing the hacks of it. Saving on flights not only means you have extra money to spend on your trip on other important or fun things but you actually can go to far off destinations. So here we shall analyze some interesting theories and facts about how to buy the airline tickets at their best price.

Book early and monitor the airfares
Well most of the time if you book early say at least 2 months before your departure dates then there is a high chance you will get a cheap fare. Also regularly monitor the airfares by searching on flight comparison sites and you can also subscribe to price monitor by Skyscanner's price alert emails which is of great help as it sends you an email whenever there is a change in the price of your selected destination on the dates chosen by you. Price alerts are greatly useful when there is a sudden airfare sale by an airline but for regular airfares it may be best to book 2-3 months ahead.
Be flexible with your travel dates and time
If you are going on a vacation then try to be flexible with your dates and timing of flight. Say you want to travel on 15 June then search for airfares between 12 and 19 June. This way you will see usually fares are different and being flexible you can choose the cheapest flight tickets. Also you will notice that if you fly at times which are not so convenient like midnight, early mornings, Saturday evenings and sometimes midweek flights, you will see that these flights have lower airfares than peak time flights. The more flexibility you have the better chance you have at finding buying the cheap tickets.
Do the hard work and search every option.
One of the tricks to finding a good deal on flight tickets is to do the hard work by searching multiple times and multiple options. Search many fare compare websites and then search for nearby airports also. Sometimes you may find a good deal to a nearby airport and evaluate if you would take a cab, bus or metro to your destination then is it going to be a cheaper option. So doing the hard work and searching intensively will benefit you.
